I had my birthday here one year and the server was so nice. He kept bringing mojitos out and made my night. The food is decent and what you'd expect of pretty typical bar food. Fools Gold is in a fun happening area of Manhattan and nice to sit outside or inside.

I waited a year to write this review for Fools Gold. Overall a 4.2 out of 5 as I am sadden to learn that the long time bartender, Roger has moved away to Ohio. FG hired two bartenders to replace him. Both are nice people, I bet, however, I still have not learn their names. Roger was the friendliest guy. He took care of everyone who walked in. He never asked you to buy a drink nor was I asked to buy a meal to stay at the bar (ps: I have dined and drank here so don't think that I didn't do either). In fact, I remember walking past by the bar on a random Friday. Roger recognized me and said hi. People like him made me feel like I am a part of this loving community in the big apple. This bar is one of its kinds in the LES because I have spent now close to two years hanging out here. Mostly on board games Mondays with old friends and acquaintances. I can honestly say some of my friends from the last two years are from this bar. Nevertheless, other than a good selection of drinks, the bar's food is not bad neither. A lot of our friends like their chicken wings, fries and I enjoyed the salad from here. This is one of the few bars where nerds meet the sports fans. The TVs do engage the sports fan on football and baseball nights, with music and noise growing increasingly loud as the light gets dim by the minutes and the night sets in. It will make you get closer to your friends and scream louder on their faces. This is not your typical bar scene. It's literally one giant melting pot. You have those who enjoy drinking and chatting at the bar, you have some serious board games players, and you have your sports people who like to watch and yell on the tv sometimes. It's crazy. CONs - I do dislike the bathrooms as it is so tiny and it can get smelly sometimes. I also dislike how dark the bar gets overtime. Overall, I still like this place because here is where my friends, new and old will stay. So come make some friends on Mondays!

This place has excellent beer, good and inventive cocktails, and usually at least one very good cider on tap. It can get loud and crowded. Food is good, not overly pricey, and is several steps above typical bar food. Service is fair, often a bit overwhelmed.

A relaxed, neighborhood type dive bar. It's very casual and the drinks were standard and they had a good selection of craft brews. The staff were friendly - we came for a friend's birthday and they gave us plates, a cake cutter and all of the utensils we needed.

Ross was our bartender and he was a doll. I liked the heavy short pour glasses. It was nice and air conditioned inside. One of the smallest bathrooms you have ever been in!

Pretty big area with lots of beers. Avoid the cocktails holy cow some of the worst I've ever had but why the heck are you ordering a cocktail here?

i was at fools gold very shortly for a post-marathon party, but the mac and cheese i ordered was some of the best i've ever had (and i am very picky about such things) and some of my friends raves about the turkey burger and quesadillas, so i felt it still warranted a review. i also loved the draft cider i got. of my experience, the one criticism i have is that the music was incredibly loud, but again, food and drinks 10/10!

I came here and enjoyed a couple of margaritas in between a meeting and a dinner reservation. This is a classic sports bar setting with a ton of televisions. If you love beer on draft then Fools Gold will be your new favorite place. It seems like the beers change on an almost daily basis. I'm not a huge beer fan, so I got their mango margarita on tap. It's not too sweet and well balanced, and I enjoy cocktails on tap. I think the price point for a draft cocktail ($15) is a little steep. Attentive service, friendly bartenders, and a good place to watch the game!

Awesome bar just seconds away from the Gatsby Hotel It's all craft beer and a decent choice of spirits I didn't try any of the IPAs but the lager and Pilsner were very good and refreshing. The bar also as trivia Tuesday nights and board games
